Select options for when to show the scroll bar and what action to take when you click in the scroll bar. See Change Finder preferences. Open General preferences for me. Copy the file to another folder on your desktop or anywhere this is a backup for safety. Drag the PNG image you created in step 2 from the desktop to this folder where the current finder. It will ask for authentication. Click on Authenticate. When you view files in a gallery, you can browse your files visually using large previews, so it's easy to identify images, videos, and all kinds of documents.
Gallery View even lets you play videos and scroll through multipage documents. Earlier versions of macOS have a similar but less powerful gallery view called Cover Flow. Use the sidebar in Finder windows The sidebar in Finder windows contains shortcuts to AirDrop, commonly used folders, iCloud Drive, devices such your hard drives, and more. Like items in the Dock, items in the sidebar open with just one click. You can also drag files into or out of the sidebar.

Spotlight is similar to Quick Search on iPhone or iPad. Learn more about Spotlight. When you select a search result, its location appears at the bottom of the window. In both Spotlight and Finder, you can use advanced searches to narrow your search results.
